Life in post war Germany was very difficult, and even more so when the daily playing of children among the ruins took a tragic turn. Unexploded bombs and other types of explosive devices could be easily disturbed with disastrous consequences. This story is of one of those kids who rose from the ruins and made his way to America. Without the selfless sacrifices of our soldiers, (and our Allies) there would be no freedom in our world today.
Awesome post! My step mother was a survivor of Nazi Germany and was able to immigrate after the war to the US. Settled in the midwest and became part of our family after our mother passed away! Thanks for sharing!!
That is awesome Kirt! I am sure your family has treasured her stories. There are so many sad stories of how people were treated. It is always nice to hear of stories such as this, and yours of people who surviced and made their way to freedom in America. Thanks for commenting!
